this skill requires not only age/awareness/maturity/practice..

all that to get here:
i'm not embarrassed about my dancing; per se. i do try to contain myself inside the store if there are any people shopping..
i will sometimes dance a little bit if a great song comes on Pandora and the store is empty.. but im very tame. very tame.
i really do save it for, as my mom might describe, 'the appropriate time & place'
-and all us locals know.. that = Barones, music under the stars..
and I never feel embarrassed there.. you're supposed to get a little crazy when the band plays your favorite song..
besides, there's like 100's of people doing their own thing on the dance floor so you just kind of blend in..
my embarrassing moment is embarrassing exactly because there was no group of crazy people to blend in with..
it was just me. -and if it was really, really just me.. that wouldn't be embarrassing either..
but it is exactly because there was 1 other person ... besides me.. and not inside the store, just kind of passing by..
and my favorite dance song came on in the store.
and the store was empty! -it was empty..
and I was just putting a couple things out front on the sidewalk..
dancing in, dancing out..
and have i not already mentioned uptown funk is the hottest dance song of this year!
and.. it brings out some new moves in me sometimes.. like I don't even know what I'm about to do..
all the sudden my hips will just start going one way, and my feet start side-steppin, and my hands will suddenly shoot up in the air..
its all to the beat, I promise you.. it makes perfect sense if you hear the song and watch me dancing at the same time..
but the thing is..
"..oh. hi. Um. .you can't hear the song out here. [stepping just outside the front door/freeze] . see.
but I promise.. Inside the store [stepping partially back in/2 dance moves.] uptown funk is playing write now.. [step out/freeze] you can only hear it from inside.. but its playing.. [Stepping in/2 more dance moves. Step back out; freeze].
See its just that we don't have music piped out front the way they do at raleys grocery store..
.. but come to think of it.. I've never heard dance music over there..
-I did try to explain...
and remains true.. i can watch babies respond to music for long periods of time and remain utterly fascinated and engaged.. what a delight! how precious and fun..
catching human beings before they become self-conscious..
before they start 'performing' 'posing' or feeling 'embarrassed' 'insecure' 'self conscious'
before they become motivated [influenced/incentivized or dis-incentivized] by pictures, social media, likes/followers, creating an image of themselves.. or revealing unpopular truths..
anywhere there is music and babies/toddlers..
any music
any baby from around the world
a % will respond to the music with movement, and you can tell they hear it..
and for others, it is as if it is so far in the background of their conscious awareness..
in any case..
when i watch these babies dance to uptown funk, i'm like "Yes! i totally understand!"
everyone should start their day with music they love
keep God first.. prayer... a healthy breakfast..

Blessing of unmortification for (me!) ~tops
i should start with a public "thank you!" -for some time now, my sexy and i get our hair done together; he gets his cut, 1 on the sides, 3 on top.. and i get a "fresh coat of paint" over my gray roots. and we get to have our hair done outdoors! in a beautiful backyard.. and by a dear friend.. "pete!" and so, our hair appointments always include a friendship visit.. it is a pretty stellar experience
-there is one caveat: due to the absence of a formal salon hair wash station, i get my hair washed in a large garage sink. -this has me face down, and inevitably, although i do cover my eyes with dry wash cloths; water will saturate the washcloth and drip all around my eyes...
i've learned to not wear mascara... but yesterday, i forgot... and so..
but now i can laugh at experiences that, in my youth, left me mortified. "Thank You Jesus!"
and great joy to capture two heart seen contributions during our hair appointments
and public "thank you!" here to deborah & solomon, harvey & oliver, for robert's father/grandfather day gift card to el torito. exceptional meal, margarita and service! "cheers!" we love you!
speaking of... "happy father's day to my best ever dad with the most fun sense of humor!" -great visit, and! my brother/sister called in to the restaurant from out of state, and had a drink sent over to surprise him!

WOW! the professor and the madman movie review by (me!) ~tops
you know how sometimes you are looking at something, but thinking about something else.. staring at a tv or movie screen, but thinking about the seven errands you need to run...
well, throughout this magnificent, highly intriguing, wildly surprising movie.. i was staring at the screen, but my mind kept imagining
like if i could have been behind the scenes, in the room, when the movie was first pitched
"... about the making of the dictionary..."
and i know from being a word lover, a writer, a poet..
well, in smaller circles, with like minds, this would be immediately exciting
"the dictionary! YES! awesome! -how much money do you need.."
but,
in larger box office motivated circles, like, the audiences for road warrior, patriot, braveheart
in larger circles, like, say, the audiences for fast times, dead man walking...
and so, initially i couldnt pay attention to the movie itself because i just kept wondering
how on God's good green earth did someone get MEL GIBSON & SEAN PENN to star in a movie about the making of the dictionary!?!?
-if i stood in well populated place and "have you ever wondered about the making of the dictionary? everyone interested in learning more.. step write up here...
and, like 3 people...
and then, my imaginations would be interrupted with an actual scene in the movie, and i'd be engaged in the movie itself again..
wow'd by these two master level actors...
and scene by fascinating scene.. as the personalities and character and motivations and obstacles and intensities of inner conflicts were artistically revealed; simultaneously mixed with moral, ethical, healthy and dysfunctional decisions; coexisting with a diseased and disintegrating human mind, but an over-emotional, conflicted and hypersensitive human heart, and to watch the undermining manipulators ultimately lose to the determined and visionary
i more deeply appreciate their master level skills as actors in scenes found in this movie, than in any other.
i rather wish, -for the sake of a tutorial, and to increase even more, the appreciation of talent, skill, artistry, interpretation
that they would film this movie a second time, and swap roles.
i can share here, that despite my love of words, writing.. i have never been curious about the making of..
i would flashback occasionally to myself in 4th grade.. 1st place! for looking up words in the dictionary the fastest... honey, i could flip pages.. and had a great gift for understanding how the words were alphabetized... and how to use the guide words..
never curious about the who/how/when the dictionary was made; but delighted to learn more..
and i had mistakenly thought, that wikipedia, was one of the first laypeople, civilian, large scale crowd sourcing projects
to learn how crowd sourcing was employed to create the dictionary... -big smile
yes..
A task that might take one man a hundred lifetimes, could take a hundred men just one.

so, as the movie progressed, i started to see the original pitch a little differently..
not, "hey, let's make a movie about the making of the dictionary! who is in.. who is with me?"
-no-
what got the attention of mel gibson and sean penn.. "madness & genius" -a 20 year, correspondence only, friendship between a professor and a madman..
"we are going to turn the 1998 book... surgeon of crowthorne...
one of the most prolific contributors to the dictionary was a murderer; an insane inmate.. a retired American surgeon who served in the civil war...
the determined visionary; incredibly ambitious editor.. a project that took 70+ years to complete..

and i have seen over the past few decades, many new movies/books/tv shows which are prequels and sequels to already familiar stories...
looking at/creating a before and after can and does generate ideas for new stories and entertainment..
but so does that, doesn't it.. the how/when/why of everyday things/items/tools we had not yet thought to be curious about...

Maria makes a Mag Time Frame! with (me!) ~sandra. in studio 213
Maria is a big Frida Kahlo fan... and so, we let Frida serve as our inspiration, and picked out papers accordingly. -Had the pleasure of creating a reversible Mag Time Frame.. so, the back, has this flower border, but with a blank area so she can maybe place a Frida quote, or inspirational message at a later date...
the front has beautiful flowery paper background, with complementary purple paper, hint of solid white to help the frame pop.. then! she cut individual flowers out from the left over paper, and adhered those to the magnets which will hold the pictures in place.. and!
i also sent her home with four bottle cap magnets, and four images of frida to place on them..
" -how more versatile does it get?" i said with a smile "you can mix n' match the magnets... you can display your pictures horizontal or vertical.. update them super easy... you can flip the frame over for an entirely different design..."
and it is always my great pleasure to introduce fellow arts & crafters to my xyron machines.. "a must have!" -for all creatives
and my beautiful maria artist friend.. she introduced me to her cricut machine.. incredibly portable, this creative tool.. we set up an extra table in my studio, and she just sat her cricut and a laptop on top, and pretty quickly, we had an entirely custom iron-on transfer created for a t-shirt -just like that!
and then i introduced her to canva.com...
and let me say this for the 2021 record -there has never been a better time in all of human history to be a creative!

and i ached for a second because no one but me did hear it.. and i listened closer to every word of the song, waiting to see if they would repeat it, like a chorus..

and strange, because it is my current belief and understanding that God can hear my thoughts as clearly as he hears my voice, so, but

that's another fascinating~mysterious toggle/dimmer mechanism inside me.. like, how do we distinguish between, -fantasy.. delusion... big dream... pipe dream... imagination... destiny... premonition... calling...
based on current definitions -for a certain % of the population; delusions of grandeur were in fact, destiny/premonitions/callings.. -and they obtain very real wealth, power, intelligence...
maybe it has to do with timing... if you already have achieved wealth, power, intelligence.. vs. if it looks very likely that you will one day.. vs. there is no outward sign that you will ever even come close..
but, do you know how many times, how many people.. -you cannot count, or calculate the number of people who showed no outward sign of... but God!
so anyway..

Okay, here’s the story behind this one. First of all, that rock is much bigger than it looks. Needed two hands to lift. I should have put in a reference. The other pictures show the graffiti that some idiot painted on the rocks by Bean Hollow Beach. I was so pissed off by his selfishness. I found a flat rock and tried to scrape off as much paint as I could. The second picture shows at least I made a start. I may go back with a wire brush. Notice the heart-rock was painted red. So I flipped it over and took a picture for you. Then I smashed it to pieces. Only because I couldn’t
t smash the vandal to pieces! hahahaha!

and so for 'true' Christians there seems to be 3 primary forms of life long warfare
three 'enemies' if you will, and means for defeating these 3 enemies and giving victory to God:
1. yourself; flesh vs. spirit within each individual
2. spiritual; (devil/enemy/demons vs. God/friend/angels)
3. the material world (be in it; not of it)
and there are many, many passages/scriptures which speak to each one of these, but i'm going to post one for each
1. Galatians 5:16-22 So i say, walk by the spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh...
2. 1 Peter 5:8 I will live a balanced life because God's word states that if we are not well balanced we open a door for satan to come in and devour us.
3. Romans 12:2 I will not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of my mind...
it does not seem to me, from reading, listening, observing or experience that you are ever done.. you don't necessarily 'achieve' -but you can master, with practice, and then stay at master level for your life.
our armour: Ephesians 6:11..

Victorious believers receive eternal life
addendum: sharing all this from our personal 'due season' (Galatians 6:9) -agree with the teaching of Joyce Meyer.. our earthly life should not be full of misery.. just waiting to die and go to heaven..

CRITICAL LEVELS of homelessness by (me!) -tops
i think especially because prior to living in san jose, i lived in (6 different places within) pleasanton
for 20+ years
both the size of san jose itself; and the size of their problems
seem much bigger
and it's not unique to san jose -recalling here homeless problem in san leandro recently discussed
homelessness is at crisis/critical levels across the u.s. it seems
above is one solution
of course, this does not solve the problem of homelessness itself
but it has successfully solved the problem
of having homeless populate this specific corner/onway ramp area to the freeway.
not too long ago, it was dense! with what appeared to be trash, tents,
garbage of many different kinds.. and a large number of homeless people
it looked similar to the picture below, but add even more garbage and people
we drive the route infrequently, but wow! to when i saw the rock pile..
like, "it worked!"
/that is, it worked at re-locating...
but, i wonder..
how many rocks would it take.. and where do the homeless people go?
and how much of our landscape, what percentage do we want to become rock piles?
i am aware i am not pointing out something that is not already obvious, -and as i've already discussed/written about my own value system:
human dignity..
like, while we are trying to solve the much larger problem, i would love it if, we could take some of these larger homeless encampments, and at least..
have portable restrooms; garbage pick-up, a place to wash, and food pantries.
my mind keeps returning..
"i wonder if i could appeal to capitalists!?!.. like, look at all these potential customers! if we can get them off the streets, (and some off drugs/alcohol) and get them employed... they could add to your income/profits! they would be buying things.. instead of scrounging, rummaging, stealing..
isnt everyone better off if they are contributing to the economy..?"

HORROR FILM BEAUTIFUL MOVIE for (sexy! & tops!)
we love this movie
but it opens with some horrific depictions of Christians; Jesus; the Church in general...
and we kept looking at each other.. like, "Oh My God! -what interpretation of the Bible is any of that behavior from?"
and we know from history, from books, from movies, and from listening to real life testimonies
-there has been (and sadly still is) some horrific, absolutely hideous and evil practices that take place by very fraudulent, highly corrupt, con-artist-Christians..
but just to be certain... they are frauds.
i could re-write a million passages/scriptures here, but if we only look at the fruits of the spirit:
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control...
Colossians 3:12 -chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.
-you see none of this in the behaviors, decisions, manners of the people who are representing God, Jesus, the Church, the Bible in this movie..
so, i've always kind of acknowledged/understood, that if THAT was your introduction to Jesus, and Christianity -of course you would curse it, and everything it stands for
but, the frauds do not represent the 'true' Christians /and notice how often we all need to employ the word 'true'
it goes on and on,
but worth repeating here... how often we mistakenly project on to the whole population of a group; the actions of a few; or the actions of the-some
so you can see then, how easy it is to corrupt and intentionally misrepresent a group -especially mass media
-corrupt cops do not represent 'cops'
and it is this understanding, throughout life, and applying it in a variety of situations that has allowed me to completely understand and appreciate
the black male wearing a hoodie who kidnapped me at gunpoint -he does not represent black people
the black males who arm-robbed the bank i was a customer in... who held the gun toward me, and other customers in line -they did not represent all black people
the puerto rican who... the middle eastern man who.. the mexican girls who...
i say it so often in conversations, i can tell people are little tired of hearing it, but
CONTENT OF CHARACTER PEOPLE!! not race, or skin color, or political affiliation, or education
and, so, even when watching this movie.. i realize, they are not representing the entire population of "Indians"
and the mean racist fans do not represent all sports fans...
on and on, etc., etc,
but on the whole.. an engaging, enlightening and inspiring movie.
