NO TINY HOMES ON NOBLE!! over 1500 signatures on petition and growing... #NOTonNOBLE

None of us can even believe this area was put on the table for consideration!  Not only because it was successfully vetoed a number of years ago, and the land deemed not viable, but because

It is sandwiched between TWO ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS  -directly across the street from one, and directly across the street from a library, and down the street from a middle school; it is across the street from a day care;  It is on sacred land locals/visitors very much consider a part of the cherished perc pond walking trail with such an abundance of wild life!  I understand on paper, some land is owned by Valley Water and some by City of San Jose..   but for the people who actually walk there, those borders are invisible:  it is in fact one beautiful, sanctuary, for egrets, herons, mallards, cormorants, coots, turkey vultures, kites, turtles, frogs, fish, lizards,  -a large amount and variety of wild life; indigenous, migratory   -this landscape is sensitive

So let me bullet point here the reasons one more time why Tiny Homes near these sensitive locations is a very bad, utterly irresponsible, potentially negligent, possibly illegal idea:

1.  It was already successfully vetoed and found not viable. And should have never been put back on the table for consideration

2.  It is directly across the street from Noble Elementary School.

3. It is directly across the street from Noble Library

4.  It is across the street from a day care center

5.  It is very near Toyon Elementary

6.  It is down the street from Piedmont Middle School

7.  It is land that has been and is, a popular park, walking trail for countless neighbors, families, and a sanctuary for a wide variety of wild life; indigenous; migratory   #NOTonNOBLE in the search bar of this blog.

We cannot believe, that with 7 very valid, serious strikes against it

that a more suitable place cannot be found.   We strongly believe and are most willing to contribute toward helping find a more suitable location.

Robert & Sandra
on behalf of many of our neighbors.
You can see over 1.000 people have already signed a petition against this..    and that number will only be growing as awareness is created.

The underhanded way there was a conscious effort to deny the neighborhood a chance to veto..

hideous.

Spiritual Exchange Rates by (me!) ~topps

exactly when did i realize? comprehend?  i don't remember the when..  i do know the what:

any time people meet..  any people, any time,  from you and the cashier, to you and your spouse, to you and your friend, to you and your enemies, you and a stranger

any time two people meet, there is always 100% of the time a spiritual exchange that takes place; and each individual either leaves that encounter/visit in one of 3 states

encouraged; feeling better than before

neutral; not better or worse, but about the same

discouraged;  feels worse than before the encounter/visit

***

i have learned to pay attention to these spiritual exchanges..   to do my best to make sure people feel better/encouraged..   neutral as second place..   but

i have learned also, that when someone is down, and needs/searches for encouragement

if you are not conscientious, they can accidentally bring you down, vs. you lifting them up.

do i hear an amen...

WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT HOMELESSNESS response & questions by (me!) ~topps #NOTonNOBLE

 https://help.sjd10.com/support/solutions/articles/66000489780-what-can-we-do-about-homelessness-in-san-jos%

C3%A9-

average citizen response   -considerations for problem solving

lets see..  before i directly respond to the article, i will reiterate personal observations:

Covid was the big reveal!  that is to say, that no one really quite knew how many people were living hand to mouth, paycheck to paycheck, until Covid.   And this revealed that it wasn't necessarily just young single people with bad money management skills that were living paycheck to paycheck.. but couples, families..  and many entrepreneurs who appeared to have 'successful' businesses..   many well educated people.. in a variety of financial brackets.. on and on.

entire cities were operating   -appeared to be functional, operational, thriving, growing..

but behind the scenes, so many were struggling to make ends meet.. drowning..  dog paddling..  so many suddenly unable to keep going, to stay open, to pay rent, to keep food on the table.. when the world shut temporarily down.

what happened between the 1970's, when home ownership, + savings, retirement were standard cultural practices for the high school educated

i dont pretend to know, but unless we look deeper, closer and analyze all contributing factors..

and make the necessary corrections, then we are destined to live long term in the crisis state we are in when it should be temporary

in our direct neighborhood, there was 1    -ONE-  homeless woman everybody seem to know by name and who received help from who knows how many people..  this was approx 20 years ago

now, we cannot even count the amount of homeless we see, homeless encampments, when we drive from one side of the city to the other.

it is absolutely beyond crisis levels.

what is the answer to these question:   WHO is responsible for the homeless crisis?  WHAT is the cause for the dramatic, overwhelming and ongoing increase?

i will for the time being place the drug addicted, mentally ill, and released inmate population on hold, while i exclusively address this section of the article

Over the past decade, the average San Jose rent has increased by 74%

pause, repeat:   74%!  increase in rent

while home prices have jumped 124%.

pause, repeat  124%! increase in home prices.

High housing prices are directly correlated to high rates of homelessness; a study out of Los Angeles found that even a 5% increase in rent can push 2,000 additional people into homelessness.

As such, on any given night in San Jose, over 6,000 people sleep on the streets.  This figure has likely grown considerably, as the last official count was taken before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019.  This humanitarian crisis is caused, fundamentally, by a lack of housing.   [did no one else just read about the unexplainable, unjustifiable, unbelievable rent increases!? home prices skyrocketing]

               pause.  read again..

This humanitarian crisis is CAUSED, fundamentally, by a LACK OF HOUSING?!?!

is this to suggest, that every time rent increases, housing prices increase, and people are unable to pay their rent or mortgage that the City of San Jose, the tax payers are RESPONSIBLE to build a new home for them that they can afford? each and every one of them?  every time?  and even though our water resources are taxed to their limits.. we will build! more, and more, and more homes..

it is my opinion/observation

THAT LACK OF HOUSING IS ABSOLUTELY NOT CAUSING THE CRISIS!

MORE HOUSING IS NOT THE ANSWER!

my God, everywhere i look new apartments, townhomes, condos

one look near the great mall! a giant small example

we are lacking water resources and flooded with high rises!

i am wildly curious, if we employ our imaginations based on the study out of Los Angeles mentioned above,  and a 5% increase in rent here in San Jose, suddenly leaves 2000 people without a home.. sleeping on the streets

how much are we spending, in not just money, but time, and energy, and resources in general, to address that problem?   and WHO is responsible when a person is unable to pay their rent?

and, i am wildly curious..   what crisis/problem, effecting how many people, if say.. their rent was never increased?

what happens..  what crisis/problems, how many people are impacted, if say..  you implemented rent control..?     how on earth can rent even increase by 74%  !?!?

doesnt it make more sense to try and keep people, children, families, in the apartments/houses they are struggling to stay in, vs..    forcing them out, and then scrambling to find, im sorry, i mean BUILD a new place

it is my opinion and experience, that in order to solve a problem, you must first identify the actual problem.  LACK of housing IS NOT the problem.  LACK of rent control restrictions is indeed CAUSING a much larger problem..   as well as this 124% increase in housing prices.

We need to use all the resources, money, time, energy we have toward keeping people in their current room, studio, apartment or house.

This will prevent the population of healthy, working, contributing citizens from being financially forced into homelessness.     -without a 5% increase, 2000 wont require a tiny home?

This does not address the drug addicted, mentally ill, and released inmate population

But it is those populations I see increasing to the detriment of every citizen, and San Jose on the whole.

Again, in order to solve, you must first properly identify the problem.

We should not be forced to 'just live with' drug addicts, mentally ill and released inmates.

I say we cut our losses on the Tiny Homes..   work to keep healthy, working people in their homes via rent restrictions and reinvest all of our time, effort, resources on cleaning up our streets, neighborhoods, parks, schools and shopping centers and getting these dangerous and/or criminals in the hospitals or jails, where they belong.

***

worth pointing out:

article says:   high housing prices are directly correlated to high rates of homelessness

and, says,  -humanitarian crisis is caused, fundamentally, by a lack of housing

and closes with, the solution to homelessness is intuitive: more homes.

the solution to homelessness is far from 'intuitive'

it is very complicated, and the homeless population, again, includes  -poverty; drug addicted, mentally ill, released inmates

i don't hear enough about infrastructure and resources..

if we use a micro example,  and imagine a high school, campus, buildings, etc.

that high school, no matter how compassionate the staff, teachers, administration; that high school can hold only so many students  -it has to do with chairs, indoor space, bathrooms, water, cafeteria, outside land   -there is absolute valid reason for 'capacity' limits.

those capacity limits do leave a little wiggle room for emergencies

in an emergency..  use your imagination to let more students in..

how many students before the resources are taxed beyond their limits?  and instead of helping a small group out in an emergency, you create a larger, much more significant problem that spreads to all?

we need a better understanding of tipping points.

Writeous~Mamarazzi's Care Neuron Synapsed! (me! my husband! and countless others...) #percponds #NOTonNOBLE

worth mentioning:  i have lived in 30 different neighborhoods within the bay area..   nothing has been as beautiful and special, rare and wonderful as this perc pond area..  this nature..  the wild life! the trees, plants, flowers, turtles, ducks, variety of birds, frogs...   the number of families, children, teens, young adults who walk and treasure this trail..  the amount of neighbors who walk their dogs, meet, visit..    -currently it is safe, free, clean..        and the neighbors all contribute to keeping it that way..  in addition to valley water administrators/team,   -neighbors will pick up trash, cover up/remove graffiti..

many, many neighbors who enjoy this area are deeply invested in, and directly contribute toward protecting it

****

and as for protecting a several mile radius around any/all elementary schools! middle schools! high schools!   -this should go without saying!   100 beds for homeless directly across the street from an elementary school is egregiously negligent

***

My initial reaction, when I heard about the battle a couple years ago:  HOW on God's good green earth could this idea even be put on the table for consideration?!?   It is such an obviously horrific idea     -and apparently the neighborhood citizens shot the idea down, correctly so, a few years back..   but city council members are forcing the neighbors, families, to put up the fight again!   -that itself rings utterly irresponsible.  No meant no, the first time, and for all time.

and i've written often about that mysterious 'care neuron'    -why each one of us cares about this, but not that;

and many issues of concern have/will come my way, but this issue!

this issue   -to why i care so much..   enough to take immediate and ongoing action..    why i care enough to sign petitions, write letters, gather with others to make darn sure this area remains protected

why i care so much..     why the mamabear in me feels so enormously protective of the children at Noble Elementary..  the children at the middle school just down the street;   so protective of the wild life/nature of the glorious penitencia perc ponds

why i will stop at nothing and give any/all energy i have to make certain that a tiny home/homeless site with 100 beds is not placed directly across the street from an elementary school, library, and on the property of the perc ponds,

and my husband feels exactly as strongly as i do... stronger! he's lived here since 1993.   and, we had one of our driveway bbq hot dog/happy hours last night, and all neighbors present feel as strongly as we do too..

how was this even put on the table for consideration?   i'll say it again,  no meant no the first time, and for all time.

so anyway..      they are exactly write,  expect a backlash..     a very large, a very loud, a very energized and very determined backlash

open letter (emailed) to the mayor of san jose,

Responding to the Mercury News article regarding tiny homes planned for Noble neighborhood.

As the article predicted, we are in fact, 'vehemently opposed' and will employ every effort to prevent tiny homes/homeless from being built directly across the street from an elementary school, library and sacred penitencia percolation ponds.

I have already researched three pages worth of 'services/organizations' that currently exist to help our homeless [drug addicted, mentally ill, released inmate] populations and can't quite figure out, with all those services and professionals available, why we still have an 11% increase.

San Jose is over 180 square miles, my husband and I are retired and happy to help you find more suitable locations.

We believe in compassionate relocation from our local businesses,  schools, residential neighborhoods

We understand basic human needs and dignities, and believe funds are better spent where infrastructure for portable toilets, garbage pick up, shelter, food can be efficiently provided.

We still see plenty of land available near Coleman and Hedding, which makes more sense financially, and is better suited for this temporary crisis.

Quite disturbed to read in the article about 'cautioning against giving neighbors [who, by the way, are directly impacted] the opportunity to veto.

We will adamantly veto Noble street for tiny houses, but again, willing to help find more suitable locations.

in under 500 words by (me!) ~topps

there has been much written about human mate selection; so often, in several to many books i've read, they suggest it has to do with 'reproduction'   -optimal chances for healthiest offspring

in my most recent read, the author suggested humans were attracted to the most 'disease resistant' mate, and that this has been taking place for all of human history

/oh no! how many words did i use so far..

anyway,  -domestic violence/shelter populations; humans who choose not have children but fall in love; homosexuals who adopt; widows who marry later in life, and have already had/raised children; lonely, low self esteem beings who lack selection criteria..   arranged marriages; green card; status..  pregnancy inspired..  co-dependents..  social pressures..    there is a much longer list.

all of my life experiences, observations, research leads me to believe that

well, wouldn't it be a better world all together if we 'naturally' selected optimal mates, whether or not we planned to have children.

and should i mention the loving parents who adopt children, or give birth to children they know in advance have health challenges.  the people who fall in love and mate with someone they know has health challenges.

i'll be working on an elegant phrase that captures the complexities of human mating

sometimes 'catchy/easy/quotable' wins over truth/facts in the cultural landscape at large.

amen.

#allcrosseslitatnight vision by (me!) ~topps

-same as regarding butte..   i do not have the means, the resources, the power, the influence

but none of that prevents my imagination from seeing what it could look like..  it is so outrageously beautiful in my imagination

-every single church, with a cross, in the entire city of san jose,   -and why not milpitas..   /why not the whole world..?

every church that has a cross(es) outdoors is/are lit at night.  every single one!    imagine how beautiful..

and i do not know the cost?  but even if you just decorated your cross with led Christmas lights, so that it was lit every night...   vs. the internal glow i see some crosses with..

worthy of your tithing!!

can you too imagine?  how beautiful,   -driving through a city...  or flying over a city..

and every. single. cross. on. every. single. church.   LIGHTED   -beacons of hope...

easy visual reminder, easy access to how many churches populate a give city/county/area...

how awesome would that be?!    i can see how beautiful!    -maybe this warrants a mail/email writing campaign..

in Jesus name,    hallelujah & amen.

if you receive this letter, this prayer..   and you light up your churches cross at night  /if your cross is already lit at night:

Back to #ButteAmerica #Itsabigdamndeal by (me!) ~topps

i just recently went on about butte  -what a potential gold mine, so let me cut to:

how fascinating i find myself once again  /laughing..

not literally 'myself'

but, more specifically my imagination

and not necessarily 'my' imagination,

but human imagination in general.

***

i.e.,    /i always feel so academic when i i.e., things..

anyway

even though i do not have the financial resources, even though i do not have an engineering, or architectural background,  -no business degree..    i know no people in high places (save God, of course) with power, influence, unlimited funds

none of this real world lack prevents my imagination from seeing what a place could be;

and as of late, my imagination keeps showing me what butte plaza mall  -could be.

***

and if i could somehow print out what i get to see in my imagination..

but even that lack, doesn't prevent me from trying to find the words to share:

what is currently a very large, but unfortunately vacant, dead mall, with like, only 2 or 3 stores in business..

gets converted into a massively impressive, exciting and engaging, first-of-its kind indoor recreation center for the youth:  bowling alley, skating rink, billiards, arcades, library, live theater/open mics, indoor swimming, skateboard park, batting cages, trampolines, escape rooms, tutor halls, arts/crafts activities, community science projects, community movies/shows on jumbo screens.. cooking classes, singing lessons...  and of course, live concerts!

safe, with security, family friendly, temperature controlled..  a wonderful, constructive place for butte youth/families    -coffee shops, mini restaurants, picnic areas

tracks on the in and outside for races..   people, remote cars..

and because it is such a blessing directly to the youth/families, but ultimately benefits everyone,

instead of paying per visit, or annual membership fees..

small amounts from the entire population go towards..

if i had it to give; i would give it...

grateful for the free, unrestricted gift of human imagination

hallelujah & amen

End Users by (me!) ~topps

i can spend too much time just going over in my mind how often i am the end user, and not the creator/manufacturer

i.e.,  i did not manufacture my jeep, but i drive it;  i did not manufacture or install my sink; but i use it; i did not manufacture my computer, my phone, my tv..  but i use them..

i am an end user for everything in our home; including our home!  every yard tool, every piece of clothing.. on and on, you get the point

and then,

in my mind i see innovators/geniuses/manufacturers/designers..  add on today, coders/programmers..

-makers; creators

original sources; not end users.

and i saw in my imagination, elon musk..   his rocket ships..

and i realized..  yes, he is an original maker..

but he did not create earth, space, atmosphere, materials, galaxy, etc. ... when it comes to time, and the space to travel and explore within..  he is an end user.

how blessed we all are

amen.

thoughts on gun control and Amendment II by (me!) ~topps

it is still highly sensitive; raw;   -in the recent aftermath of mass elementary school shooting in texas, i am inspired to share

-how utterly undone i was personally to learn about the sandy hook mass shooting in 2012; and how utterly moved i am now/today, to learn about how those parents, survivors are reaching out to the survivors in texas now

i repeat here  -my youth includes having a cocked gun at my temple by a very violent, angry, predator, so on the topic of gun control i have been slowest to land on my own -stance; if you will

but i watch very little to no news in the aftermath of any given mass, or individual shooting.  -there has been no need   "it is all script and loop"    i say, which has become my own, "script and loop"

different people saying nearly the exact same things

those looking for greater gun control/regulations...

those against government interference; controls/regulations..

survivors with raw trauma, anguish...

"gun control would have prevented..."   vs.    "laws only prevent law abiding citizens from being able to protect themselves..   criminals will still find guns.."

i believe that if we captured the words exclusively from all political sides in the aftermath of a mass shooting

we could almost cut and paste for the next one.

-there will be a next one.  what a heartbreak..

****

i had a vision recently.  in it, children at an elementary school, free and safe, learning, growing..

and a prison with violent criminals behind bars in  (traditional black/white stripes).

-a shooting over here..         a shooting over there..

iron bars go over the school windows, metal detectors installed on campus..

slowly, inmates are released...    free, spreading fear, evil...  inflicting violence..

and the once free beautiful young children are wearing black n' white striped clothes looking through the iron bars of their classroom windows.

we have to be so careful about not allowing criminals to imprison our children; not allowing criminals to imprison our law abiding, caring, loving, everyday citizens.

****

these are equally true for (me!):  i can utilize my imagination, as a loving parent..  and having had my own horrific experience with violence/guns/murder..   i can imagine the shock, the pain, the anguish, the disbelief, the suffering of a parent who receives the news their child has been shot and killed at school.

and i can easily understand how devastated to learn about how the shooter got access to the guns that claimed their childs life..     easily understand wanting answers; greater control; stricter laws;

equally true:  i can use my imagination to understand and to see, how criminals -at their very nature; disregard regulations, laws..       outlawing guns = only outlaws have guns

equally true:  i can see how disarming everyday citizens, gives the advantage to violent, predators, and there are also children shot, lives lost, due to an absence of being able to protect one's home and family; business

equally true:  i can see via history, disarming citizens can also be a set up for tyranny.

equally true:  i've seen/visited areas with very relaxed gun regulations, but no mass shootings; very low homicide rates;  and areas with stricter laws, but greater murders..  & vice versa

add on political agendas; monetary issues...    it is certainly a great deal for anyone to wade through and make sense of

and this may change, but i am currently in agreement with the sad truth, that more laws are not the answer.   enforcement of laws already on the books; perhaps..    i do believe in background checks and waiting periods

still working through..

but, inevitably the constitution, and Amendment II are discussed in the aftermath of any/every mass shooting in the news

without having read/researched the federalist papers, or other historical reference,

in a plain, dry and current read of Amendment II, i offer this interpretation

in regard to the argument that guns were intended only for militia

if that were true, Amendment II would read,

The right of a well regulated Militia to keep and bear Arms, being necessary to the security of a free State, shall not be infringed.

or,

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, shall not have their right to keep and bear Arms, infringed.

in my interpretation/opinion, there is a very discernable distinction being made; Militia and people (people synonymous with everyday citizens; laypeople).

in my interpretation/opinion, there is no reason at all for the inclusion of 'the right of people' unless they intended to include 'the right of people.'  in addition to the Militia.

and i'm going to turn the page here,

to mention two rather unrelated, but impressive things

1.   when the discussion came up recently about 'the second amendment'   -i immediately said with a smile, i said,

"i have a pocket constitution!   but even better....  i know where it is!"    /you would have to know my history with clutter/boxes/storage/moving to appreciate what a miracle and answered prayer that is, and let me slip in a "thank you!" here to Cheryl Cook-Kallio for gifting me the pocket constitution when she was a customer and i was a cashier at Ricks Picks.

and 2.

i still remain so amazed really, by the generosity and selflessness of America's founding fathers..

literally,

because just in my own 56 years of life..   the amount of exposure i've had to "my way or the highway" personality types, in history, books, tv shows, movies..  but also, in life at schools, places of work, places i've visited..    the amount of dictators, bullies..     the amount of exposure i've had to leaders who can't listen; who insist whatever they believe is what everyone should believe or else

and so,

i am wildly amazed and impressed..  by Amendment I: ...   no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press..

etc.,    -especially when you consider the Christian beliefs of leaders writing the constitution

im getting way off track, but

add it to the long, long list of why i love to blog.

hallelujah & amen.

Why On Earth Would We Do That!? (sexy! & topps!) #haiku #courage #tattoo @writeousmom

God's healing process
Heart searches for safe landing
finds courage to love.

every once in a while, someone will ask us if we go to church

-when our children were young, and post divorce for each of us, individually;
we brought our children and attended church on sundays.

***

"and do you know what sexy?"  i said with a smile,

"can't you feel God smiling?  -because, now..

retired and free, getting to choose how we spend time, anyway we want..

look what we do!

we freely choose to start every. single. day with church tv and prayer

and we don't get paid for it..

we are not obligated to do it..

we are under no social pressure to be seen..

utterly, completely, freely

we do this.   -that's pretty awesome"

****

for anyone who might be going to church because they think they 'have' to..

***

and for our young people, 20's - 40's; i sure do recommend stevenfurtick.com

***

and every once in an even greater while, someone will ask about my tattoo

i've already written, so to avoid repetitiveness will skip to:

attitude adjustments along the way

initially when someone expressed hating it, i would get such a fleshly rise out of
letting them go on and on, and then, after they exhausted themselves,
i would summon my most polite tone under the circumstance and say with a smile, something like,
"yes..  thank you for sharing.  -but just so you know,
your liking it, was not part of my criteria for getting it."

and truth be told,

the same is true, for when someone paid my tattoo high compliments.
your compliments are not part of my criteria..  but i never responded that way to compliments;
just said, "thank you"

now, if someone shares hate or disgust, i just say, "yeah, tattoos aren't for everybody..."

and won't bullet point here the evolution of when/how i changed my answers
over the years to the question, 'what does it stand for'

rather i'll go straight to the original and authentic answer

it stands for courage.

you can do your own research here if you'd like..
everything Dr Maya Angelou had to say about courage..

and i would later learn that famous philosophers in history
had the same thing to say about courage many years prior

[was she validating? borrowing/sharing what she learned?]

but,

wow!  it seems to fit even better now, at 56
than it did, when i initially got my tattoo at age 40

because

aren't you blessed, lucky, fortunate if you get to navigate life with -confidence-

because i continue to primarily navigate with courage.

courage, is not the absence of fear, concerns, etc.

it is moving forward despite fears, concerns

and

i do directly rely on and credit the holy spirit for my courage.

"Thank You Jesus!   ~amen."

circle representing your life lived to date   4 years old/out of 4 years old;  14 years out of 14 years..    each slice representing one year..   and they become smaller, closer together; smaller, closer together

so it doesn't just 'feel' like birthdays are arriving more quickly; they actually are.

-for this reason, i love playing with the words accelerate/celebrate;  accelebrations.    a perfect fit!

and, because i am aware we can't contain/retain/access every memory; occasions become bullet points/highlights only in our accessible memory..     i appreciate compression algorithms and zip files for analogies   [remember long ago i shared how time is the best editor in the universe!]

and, i did intend to write "only two!" haiku's yesterday, but..    after bulk of my cleaning was done, -delighted in puzzling together two more..

i am having so much fun..

in Jesus name..     amen.

... and speaking of..    we've come across 'the history of the world in two hours'   -which, write up there with darwin/origin of the species..    causes a certain recoiling internally for me..

my bullshit radar alarms..  and i look forward to pointing out just how:

FALSE  * INCORRECT  * UTTERLY FICTION many of these stories/theories are..

but i can internally 'feel'   -a self-writeous attitude; a fleshly attitude, and so,

i do let that all boil..     via prayer, let the self-writeous/fleshly attitudes have their say, in my mind, unshared publicly, and via prayer, after those have bubbled up into vapors, and my thoughts/positions/attitude are more pure, if you will..    or 'in alignment' with God,

then i know i can write truths, clearly, kindly, respectfully minus the bad attitudes.

so i am working this through before i attack.     /she says with a smile...

in Jesus name,   amen.

#warriors #butteamerica #haiku @writeousmom

family and friends

warriors in our own write

the real victory

#headframespirits #haiku #butteamerica #itsabigdamndeal @writeousmom AKA ~topps

kelley old fashioned

mining history through a straw

grain and headframe "cheers!"

***

/often developers/capitalists are demonized in books, movies, tv series..

the way popular yellowstone series being one of many examples..

but,

my prayer..  having just re-explored butte montana

-being able to combine my imagination with actual pictures; and 'see' butte in its glory days

[glory being very relative of course..]

getting to see all those historic gorgeous brick (of many colors) buildings..

intriguing, unique, beautiful architecture in every direction, uptown

snow capped mountains in the background

those headframes! magnificent, iconic sculptures connecting each new generation with

the lives that paved and mined and lit the way

our lady of the rockies!

the folk festival!

how butte sits between yellowstone and glacier national park!

i pray,

i pray, in Jesus name..

for investors!

that this once glorious, prosperous, 'richest hill on earth'

can attract the write people

who have both the vision and resources

to restore, and rebuild

remake, reimagine

butte

into a remarkable place to live

and visit.

it looks like a gold mine to me!

Lesson learned from the world's greatest writers (me!) ~topps

Lesson i learned from the world's greatest writers  (greatest writers found via one quick google search).

-has nothing to do with writing itself; the act of writing.
-nothing to do with the construction of sentences, paragraphs, chapters.
-nothing to do with plots, great opening lines or powerful endings
-nothing to do with stretching out a story for effect, or brevity for elegance
-nothing to do with creating storyboards
-nothing to do with vocabulary, or spelling or grammar, -suspense, emotion
-nothing to do with the creation of characters..

on and on, etc.

but it does have to do with ....

exactly why i must leave write now..  bbs   /be back shortly...

***

the world's greatest writers   -and perhaps this is how they became..

allowed their writing highest priority.

this can result in becoming a great writer; but often did not equate with being a great person; parent; adult child; spouse; sibling; friend; neighbor..

on and on, etc.

the lesson i learned from the world's greatest writers;

prioritization.

there are occasions   -few and far between-   i allow my writing the highest priority of the day

but i've made people/relationships/domestic responsibilities/conversations/outdoor activities..

i give first place to God, Robert, family, friends, activities with..    arts/crafts; gardening..

on and on etc.

it is not easy.  i am often overriding a strong impulse; an inspiration that feels fleeting..  if i don't go write,  -write now..  it will be gone..

but i have gained discipline, self-control and am enormously pleased with the results.

true to this lifestyle; and to my desire and ongoing goal of prioritizing correctly  -applying the lessons i've learned from the world's greatest writers

i am writing only two haikus today   "only TWO!...  ONLY TWO...  "

[first coffee/conversation; prayer; fixing breakfast; cleaning self up; two important calls;  -remaining interruptible...   stop/start]

and will restrict my upcoming darwin/natural selection arguments to...

well, i'll try and make my point in under 500 words.    -he may have been on to something when it comes to animals, but humans he got all wrong.

in my Lord & Saviors name..  "thank you Jesus!"     amen.
