GOOD SPORT (me!), sandra, tvgp

both of my favorite bloggers have abandon me this morning. both taking monday off without asking. -and why monday? when i need them most...

but i shall be a good sport about it. and flatten only one of leonard's car tires, break only one of scott adams windows.

***

and who was it? who was it? i believe it was scott adams who some time ago tried to claim that the saying

"rich get richer and the poor get poorer" -was not true.

i beg to differ. /pun intended.

no where is this more evident than within the banking industry. it is the very formula by which they operate!

if you have a lot of money to give them, why... they will add more to it! -but if you have very little,

well, then.. they will take even more away.

example: i missed my electronic car payment by $7. and the bank charged me $35!

multiply that out by the number of poor people living paycheck to paycheck.

-in recent conversations with a bank executive, i learned there is something in the works to adjust these unjust penalties...

TBTG!

announcement for the 2010 census was in the local paper. 10 questions... to determine funding.

B-O-R-I-N-G

what i ache to learn is this: how many writers, singers, scientists, artists, mathematicians, readers, athletes, gardeners, thinkers, entertainers, chefs, comedians, directors, healers, photographers, filmmakers, philosophers, tinkerers, mechanics, swimmers, quilters, biographers, historians, researchers, teachers, inventors...

are there in my geographic area? in the world?

i sure know this: God has populated the planet with far more of each, than mass media or employment can handle. -and i have it in my imagination

that were we to shift people all around... and somehow match each individual with their innate gifts, instincts, talents,

why..

i think this could lead to the end of war!

****

that said;, i also drive through my town slowly on certain days.. i note all the behind the scenes work being done.. the landscaping; garbage and litter pick-up, the sidewalks power-sprayed, the public restrooms cleaned, the park lawn maintenance, the graffiti being removed -on and on

and i think.. if we were to shift it so that -BOOM!- everyone was only doing the work they love

entire cities would collapse.

and so i think.. everyone should do a little of both. everyone should do some behind the scenes work that contributes to the greater good. and everyone should do a little of what they love

watched malcolm gladwell on a tv interview -and i can't remember what he said, exactly, about his internal response to the very ugly criticism that comes his way, i only remember his answer was brilliant.

and of course, it got me to thinking about how i would handle the things he handles

my take is this /and has been for some time:

-that anything anyone says or writes in judgement of another, -about them as a person, or regarding their work

reveals only the truth about the person who says or writes the judgment; and very little about the person being judged.

and that seems true to me whether the judgement is positive and kind, or negative and ugly.

we all serve to reveal our hearts to one another.

i also consider /and have a feeling here, i'm repeating myself, but...

when i receive a compliment; it feels good.

when i am criticized; it hurts

but! the feeling, either way, is very temporary, because there is so much more life to be lived; work to be done.

praying for your enemies: this is less difficult for me than others, i've learned, so feel inspired to share my thinking on the topic:

to not pray for your enemies is to desire that they remain as they are.

in the works: a very new definition for "natural selection." -mostly as the opposite of "conscience selection"

my suspicion, is that human mating has far more to do with the health of the human soul, than the health of the potential offspring.

a public thank you to cathy, and her daughter courtney for the christian music, and joel osteen's it's your time audiobook, which i listen to last night. to my daughter taryn for her help registering/loading music on the nano ipod i won at the christmas dinner raffle

where would we be without these children to help us navigate cyber world? advanced technologies?

my great win -this ipod nano, just sat there waiting....

and i smiled remembering my grandma harrison and her dishwasher.

a dishwasher she used for storage only, because she was too embarrassed to tell anyone she didn't know how to use it...

and my mom, with her state of the art sewing machine -all the old painstaking things you used to have to do manually could now be achieved with the press of a button!

.....only... what button do you press for what?

this is God's gift to us:

children.

born knowing what to do and how to do it. ~amen.

I really want to keep a tally, a list of ways the rich get richer and the poor get poorer..

Just recently told about a new bank.. Put in and maintain a certain balance.. They give you $200! And remove checking fees... But if you don't have enough to put in... You don't get anything and they charge you a monthly and checking fee.

Sums up like this: the more $ you have, the more they give you, the less $ money you have, the more they take away.

And already mentioned the mrs. Seinfeld example... How even though there are a gazillion cookbooks similar.. Hers is the one showcased on Oprah.. And then she gives Oprah some crazy number of "sick" /ly expensive high heel shoes to say thank you...

And the seinfelds weren't hurting for cash... And Oprah wasn't hurting for shoes...

and lots of other cookbook authors could have used the publicity...

Banking industry and mass media industry have that in common: the more publicity you have, the more you get..

I hear the lyrics to the theme song from hustle and flow going through my mind write now...

That said (and sung..)

I'm a fan of Seinfeld... And Oprah. Every now again I just feel a big void... Especially around 4p when her show used to come on.. Sometimes I just miss the Oprah show.

And enjoy the master class program on her new network.
