To TEACHER with love, from (me!) Sandra, tvgp
2 things: 1) teacher.. It was the nickname, (although we employed it as if it was on her birth certificate) of the lady, the woman, who lived write next door to my grandmother in San Diego. ..she had been a teacher somewhere at sometime.. We saw her mostly in passing.. As she left her home, drove off in a red sports convertible, headed for yet another class at the local college.. Or adult/community building. Not to teach.. But to learn. The older she got, the greater her appetite for learning.. She was always kind with her hello & how ya doin's -but not once, in the summers after summers after summers that we went to visit our grandma (and the ocean, and the nightclubs, and the zoo, and sea world)In pacific beach, -not once, were we ever invited inside her home. On rare occasions she would come inside my grandma's house for a quick chat, but never vice versa. it turns out.. She was a hoarder..of sorts (I hate the term...). She got rid of nothing. -that's more accurate. Not that she hoarded.. Was greedy in any way.. Took anything that did not belong to her.. Nothing like that. More like, she just could not part with anything.. Any book or newspaper, or handwritten note, or post card, or piece of clothing. And if you can't part with things, for emotional/psychological/ spiritual reasons.. If you can't part with anything -give, or sell, or throw anything away, and you live alone, and into old age. -those years of un-parted with things will start to pile very high -everywhere. From the floor, to the ceiling, in cupboards, on couches, in every closet, on beds, in nooks and in crannies.. In the pantry, in the garage, in the spare bedroom... In fact, she had not parted with anything for so many years, you had to turn sideways, and tuck your stomach in, to successfully navigate the very narrow path which allowed very limited access to a barely visible toilet. /must leave for work. Tbc.
