LISTERS -LOVE this documentary, -have a request.. sandra mickanen reporting
i've said it multiple times: i feed on documentaries. love.
and this one, listers, -i am so grateful they made it; that it exists..
and, from the beginning, i witnessed such charm and creativity in the way they did titles and opening credits..
and then, it is so well edited! filmed! a visual mixed-media treat, with film + graphics + mini interviews + glimpses of places, people, -glorious birds!
it is extremely well thought out and put together, -great cadence.. honesty, humor, nature with audubon delights for the knowledgeable and passionate; for the competitive; for the novice..
and here comes my request:
this documentary would be a blessing to young people too! younger people..
but because there are several F-bombs dropped; and mention/scenes with drugs,
i can't recommend it for young people.
my request is not to edit this one.. keep it as an R rated documentary; give parents a heads up..
but make a second, clean, G rated version, by just editing out the F-bombs, the references to and drug-related scenes.
it is worthy of the largest, most inclusive audience.
"Thank You!" for it! i LOVED every second.. the creativity! the journey! of course, the birds!
and, the competition element..
i want to share, for me, having witnessed decades worth of human beings doing this or that; just because, for the joy vs. to win!
that both are valid and good. -which one MOTIVATES YOU?
if being self competitive; or group/team competitive is what gets you out there... honor that! play to win!
if you are not competitive, ... 'put the watch back in bird-watching' -honor that! just enjoy!
no need to convert from competitive to non-competitive or vice versa..
and, what i've witnessed and experienced is that one person will be both over their life time at different times, regarding different sports or games or activities.
compete in golf; sing for pure joy!
compete in marathons when younger; run for exercise and the outdoor activity when older.
****
there were scenes though, when you introduced us to people exclusively focused on completing 'the list'
-more than enjoying the birds.
it CH'd here for me, -because, i believe the authors intent, of her scavenger hunt, was to get kids outdoors and appreciating and learning about the different historic locations around downtown pleasanton..
but the result from my kids and their friends.. a rush to mark places off the list and get to the prize!
****
****
"Thank You!" prayer.. smiles. amen.
