from all in to zero interest -sandra mickanen reporting
i regard eat, pray, love a masterpiece memoir. i overrode overwhelming public speaking phobias to talk about it on the local in a word tv program. i spoke about it to anyone who would listen; i recommended it to everyone who like to read. i went with a friend to elizabeth gilbert's standing room only book signing, i have a picture with her; eat, love, pray is personally inscribed to me by elizabeth gilbert and in my personal home library collection. it is clear that i was not alone in my awe of the story and the writing of it. new york times best seller, she appeared on oprah, it was made into a film -her success was enormous and she rode the wave of that success like a skilled surfer..
but i did think.. i did think that book and memoir was her story of discovering who she really was; that she'd found her way.. that she already experienced and shared her 'awakening'
and would be moving forward.
so i was thrown, and quite disappointed to read the blurb about her most recent book -because, clearly, she did not find her way. clearly, the enormous success.. the financial success that came along with the literary success and speaking engagements..
the result of all that.. she didn't gain ground and stability. it speaks quite directly to what money can cannot do; to what success can and cannot do.
ultimately, i'm glad i've cultivated a relationship with Jesus; that i've 'followed' Joyce Meyers teachings.. read the Bible for wisdom.. identify as a Christian. and i credit that with knowing i'm not spending my 50's, 60's, and however long God has me here.. that time will not be spent drowning in dysfunction repeatedly. -life is too short, even if it's as long as 100 years; it is still, -a mere mist, as is found in the Bible
i have no doubt, the writing of her newest book, is master level when it comes to craft. but i have zero interest in reading it. i'll just eat my breakfast, pray for her, and continue to walk in love.
hallelujah & amen.
