Venus ..as told, not remembered.. by either of us
I said with a smile, "baby.. look how beautiful that is"
and we weren't sure; star? satellite?
a passerby told us it was venus
and what I remembered.. I remembered that i used to know that. a time when I would not have had to ask or wonder
long ago, I had all the planets memorized; the solar system..
but I have them memorized no more
what I seem to never forget:
noticing what is beautiful
names; not so much.

and it makes me curious..
appreciative rather; for the life-long gift of responding to beauty
