Poetry Insights by (me!) -sandra, writeousmom, topps
i repainted our fireplace bricks again (4th time); and did a little rearranging with my books. poetry is now in the upper write
and it's been on my mind; poetry. i realized there are only two types; only two categories and then just hybrids and subcategories
for the manifestation of a poem there is only 1. inspired 2. assigned
and for the styles, there is only: 1. puzzle 2. freeform -then hybrids and subcategories
but any poem that is not free form is in fact, a word puzzle, and there are many different names/labels for those depending on how many lines, rhymes or not; patterns, etc.
i just today had the great pleasure of choosing a new ending for my annual My favorite f words poem
the origin itself is kind of a hybrid between inspired/assigned because, -the very first time i wrote it, it was because i was -inspired- to write something to complement our Super Bowl Logo Yard Art
and great joy! because, when i am inspired, i will write a poem to complement our yard art, but if i'm not; i don't. and i believe this is our, 26th, or 27th yard art but i have not written 26 or 27 poems; only a select few really,
anyway,
it is also assigned, because rather than write a new from scratch poem each year for Super Bowl, i assigned myself to only change the last couple lines to somehow rhyme with the date of the Super Bowl, ...LVI -something to rhyme with six.. LVII -something to rhyme with 7, and this year, LVIII -something to rhyme with eight
and it is definitely a word puzzle, and it is designed to be seen, not just heard, because i also had fun with italics, bold, fonts, the very specific placing of the words on the page so that the word S U P E R B O W L can be seen vertically, and then have a football outline for a relevant graphic
the whole thing for (me!), the entire process... all joy! thank you Jesus.. amen.
