i speak mosaic (me!) ~tops. fresh creations from studio 213
if we speak of the denotation, serendipity is a secular word really
noun the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.
is there a spiritual? or Christian equivalent/synonym?
if we speak in spiritual terms -maybe the words blessed; favored; anointed..
i do not believe this all happened 'by chance.' -this wonderful and inspiring series of events that has resulted in my current creative joy!
and i don't necessarily have the dates/order/details locked in perfectly.. but,
maria and i, -we've been wanting to just sell a few of our creations.. extra incentive/motivation for making things; we both love to make things!
and having co-founded the good neighbors holiday boutique in pleasanton.. having earned my school of hard knocks PhD in business and experienced my Chapter 13 via magtimeframes.com
well, no desire for anything that involved.. something low key, more fun; less stress/responsibility
but anyway.. i came across these "oh my! look at these gorgeous shapes!" 5" tall, 1" wide, free standing shapes! and solid wood.. and pre-painted white. -they had mass produced decorations on them already; lacking any aesthetical value to me personally; boring.. very generic.. -cheap looking, if you will..
well, because they were cheap. "$1! each" one dollar 5" tall, 1" wide, free standing, pre-painted white on the sides, triangles, hearts and hexagons!
"GOLD!" to someone like (me!). and so my sexy and i.. we drove store to dollar store.. purchasing up as many as we could
and what a joy! using these as an empty canvas for my own unique designs! i love those hexagons! that shape! freestanding... not too small; not overwhelming; just write
and so, i designed, (canva) 'you have a heart of gold' -and i selected my most beautiful papers to decorate as background on each side. i am very persnickety about which part of the beautiful paper covers the shape. no two alike.. and i will admittedly waste a large section of a 12x12, just so i can get at the section of the paper i want.. i do not let, cost effectiveness or efficiency dictate my design.. yes, i could get 3 backgrounds if i use the whole piece of paper, but
i'd rather get 1.. that very specific piece/part of the paper, so that it lays just so, behind the vellum design.. each unique; and keep the scraps for...
"mosaic the sides!" -and originally, i was using the scraps, running them through my xyron, and hand-mosaic-ing all the sides, but then
spiritual serendipity! -because i was experimenting with wall art stickers -already adhesive, and guess what! now i could skip the xyron, and get straight to the persnickety selections of stickers and hand-mosaic away...
i was not sure initially what to do with the triangles.. the hexagons most inspiring! the hearts.. like, of course! but a triangle?
and -was thinking of things in 3's... and then, faith, hope, love; of course! it's like a thank you prayer making each one.
and so, i can literally create any design, on any of these shapes.. i can personalize with a name, i can put your favorite quote.. i can have no words at all, and just beautiful papers/design.. i can dress them up for holidays.. anything! and, could easily leave the white sides blank.. but i love to hand mosaic them; i think they look much more beautiful, and i do consider it my artistic signature of sorts.
heavenly!
and it is also an answered prayer that i get to start using up all the designer papers i've been collecting.. and using my computer, my canva, my creative mind for designs, my studio 213 in general..
and maria is getting to use all her awesome cricut machines.. her beautiful papers.. fabrics.. her creative mind and energy.. collectible piƱatas, masks, bookmarks, mugs.. john makes scented candles..
the same way people talk about grandparenting... how it is even better than parenting, because you have double the love, but half the responsibility
so is this! it's more fun, because.. not a business.. not a formal retail gig...
twice the creative joy; half the responsibility.
and, to love and be loved; this eliminates the question my response poem to shakespeare -and, make a wild wish, chase it with a prayer.. these are my own quotes/creations.. they've been waiting for the proper canvas.
"Thank You Jesus! Thank You Sexy!" hallelujah & amen.
