speaking of spills, more from (me!) sandra, tvgp

one: coffee spill..  -the reason there is no picture to accompany this post today..   is because for my birthday i was gifted a notebook computer, which i am breaking in write now; "thank you!" mom, and! a new, fancy, professional camera.. "thank you!" to my brother and his beautiful family

now..  i must figure out how to use the camera, and figure out how to get pictures from the camera, to this notebook, upload, etc., etc., on and on..

and i have found for (me!) the more easy, quick, convenient it is to express myself and communicate; the more i do it..

so the cell phone, while it has its own set of pros and cons..   the single most convenient blogging instrument in the history of my blogging experience.  take picture; boom; open; write..  done!

now I'm back on a bit of an obstacle course..  more paths, clicks, connect this to that..  save this, retrieve that..  etc., etc., on and on..

what the blogging experience is missing via cell phone, is..   font selection! picture placement; being able to place multiple pictures within one post! centering, margins..  tools for creative expression.  and i think once i get these extra paths/steps figured out, i will LOVE having access to those creative options once again...

second cup:  i am putting out feelers to anyone/everyone i know who has a passion for film with the goal of getting my blog post titled Rockstar Writer, turned into a short/short film to debut at the Livermore Film Festival in May..  which means i need to find someone   -----   fast!

but i love the idea, of capturing on film, in a music video kind of way..  with Pinball Wizard /slight change in lyrics..  playing in the background, and then..

clip after clip of the different writing tools and platforms ive perpetually acclimated to over the many, many years ive been writing:  pen/pencil to paper; to manual typewriter; to electric typewriter; to computer with detached keyboard; to laptop with attached keyboard; to ipad with flat glass keyboard; to cell phone..     -and now..   this notebook.

and that made me kinda wonder,  KEITH..   /see if he's paying attention..

as a musician..   guitarist/singer/songwriter/performer...      /and yes, i know better than to fall in love with a musician; we all do,  -write, but anyway..

i was wondering,  -have the guitars changed as much for you as a musician, as writing instruments for me as a writer?

the other thing i was thinkin'    -i never predicted..    not only did i never predict, but i never even wondered in advance what the next writing tool would be...    they just showed up in my life and i acclimated; i never contributed any ideas, or had wishes/dreams..

like, when i was using a manual typewriter, i was never smart enough to even think;  -how nice if this was electric!  i could really type then...!

never thought it.  but sure was happy when they came around.    but the biggest, BIGGEST!

BIGGEST! HAPPINESS! for (me!)..  born in 1966, and moving from paper to manual to electric typewriter..

the BIGGEST HAPPINESS mind blowing, who do i thank God for  -inventing this?!? thing that happened in the course of my writing life,

and which my children, and this entire generation take for granted:

well..    we also need a short film which shows how we used to have to

"NO! NO! NO!  PLEASE NO..."    -we would have to START ALL OVER...

like, remove the paper..   throw away everything written..   put a fresh paper in,  -if one paragraph needed to be shifted below or above,

heck, not even a full paragraph!  if you had a word out of place, or misspelled...   if you needed to change where a sentence was..

major investment of time and energy and effort..   for the simplest mistakes..

my God, the math involved if you wanted to center something..

i think if we check and research this..   aspirin sales, alcohol sales, drugs..

suicides

they've all declined since the invention of the word processor!!   yes..  lives have been saved!  I'm certain of it

-the first time i saw someone highlight a whole paragraph..   click, click, and voila!   it was moved wherever you wanted it, and all the other words and sentences, just seemed to magically, subserviently, move out of the way, but.. remain..

talk about too good to be true!   the most thing ever!    -now, the irony, is that..  i don't have to do nearly the shifting, put this there, and that there, that i used to..   but just knowing i can if i need to..

wait..  see that..    2nd sentence in the paragraph write above:   the most thing ever!   -i meant to write, the most awesome thing ever.   and if i wanted to..  i could just click write up there, and put the cursor after most and before thing, and type..   and those words would just scoot themselves over, like they are bowing out to the king..

and fixing that, prior to the word processor...  with a manual typewriter and paper?!?

so, my gratitude is deep.   "thank you!"

instant coffee spill here, because, i want to discuss speed..   gravity.  and jackson Pollock.   ive discussed it before, so you can skip this class if you already know my point..

which is:  well, everything is different for a writer, than a painter, isn't it..   depending on what tools we use..

have you even been on a slow word processor/computer?  where you type a word, but the letters you type don't show up on the screen in front of you for a couple seconds..    -there is a delay..

well, when i watched jackson Pollock with his paint..   i had that wondering..   like, what if the paint didn't pour out at the speed it did..

what if he dumped the paint bucket, but had to wait a couple seconds before the color showed up on the canvas..

see?   gravity cannot be removed from fine art..   is a fine art?  hmmm

and, write now, for the record, the letters are appearing as fast as i can type them..  no delay; appears very instantaneous..   i cant out-type the speed..

i love that!   but i wonder what the speed is called..

-faster than the speed of ....    everything seems to wordy compared to like, sound or light..

we need one word..

ill let you think about that..

I'm back at it again..   courting agents...

***

water on the rocks:   ive decided to be more careful and selective about asking other people if they have any ink..      sometimes when you ask people to show you their tattoos..

they do.

***

i do love typing/writing on this notebook; especially fond of the speed!  now i'm going to play with the fonts, and before i go to sleep tonight..

figure out how to upload pictures from my new camera,  -after i learn how to take pictures on my new camera,  that is...

***

last, before i go..   about 10 years ago, we got my mom a new, fancy, computerized sewing machine..   which she has never used..

and for the same reason, my grandma Harrison never used her new, fancy, dishwasher, -except for as storage..

 -because she didnt know HOW..

and i sure do understand that now   -amen.

.. and so i was discussing this with my nephew.. if i were to try and predict the next writing tool/platform? like, what would it be?

and i decided, -based on advances as they have been arriving.. it would have to be telepathy.. write.

and then we would go, like.. can you believe we used to have to type? every single individual letter to form a word and sentence? how laborious!

and i saw a cute skit in my imagination.. two people just staring at each other in silence, one telling the other a story, and then, audible laughter.. and then silence, and then... a sigh, .. etc.

coming soon to a mental theater near you...
