i love myself an empty canvas! (me!) sandra, topps, writeousmom
public "thank you!" here to my friend and neighbor eve who recently gifted me a 'real' empty canvas..
i mean, the very second i looked at it.. and it's big! i started to envision shapes and designs that utilize those stamps i've been collecting for... ever.
i do not, and have not for a very long time, suffer from writer's or artist's block. -the opposite is true; blank canvas for writing "awesome!" -blank canvas for creating something.. "awesome!"
and in regard to writing; my canvas is paper, but also this blog..
and when it comes to art, my ratio of using a traditional 'real' painters canvas, to using other types of canvases is probably 1 to 10,
everything is an empty canvas to me.. empty wine bottle; fireplace bricks; book; walls; vases; front yard; pottery; mirrors; windows; lampshade; furniture; human skin..
i am blessed 'exceedingly, abundantly, above & beyond!' [Ephesians 3:20] to be in love with and married to Robert, who literally 'gifted' me the walls, fireplace in our home as an empty canvas, a place for... whatever i wanted, really.. and we collaborate on so many projects, interior designs and of course, our front yard art.. we meld more, as a creative team, year after year, being a positive influence on each other.. he has helped me become more conscious of efficiency when it comes to process.. i have helped him explore and experience the joys of asymmetrical creations.. he has helped me value open space.. i have helped him see empty spaces that require -something...
always a great pleasure to collaborate with my husband. we start by discussing out loud a variety of ideas.. and organically start to reduce, eliminate this.. and ultimately follow the idea that seems to generate the most energy for both of us.. the most excitement..
we have already agreed on the yard art for halloween and Christmas 2025.. "Thank You Jesus!"
-the yard art idea for Super Bowl LIX 2025 is built in; we just replicate, in a creative way, the actual NFL logo for the Super Bowl for the given year.. but we contribute to the whole in different ways; he primarily shapes; i primarily color in.. but my God, am i looking forward to the open window, climate, energy, time wise to get started on that project.. what a super cool logo! and i LOVE, love, love, how they have started to incorporate, in one way or another, a landscape/icon/vibe from the hosting city, into the design.. just by looking at the design, your memory can be triggered.. Los Angeles.. Las Vegas... New Orleans.. and i was reading, randomly.. people out there [online community] who suggest the colors of the design can help you predict which teams will actually be competing that year...
/what teams wear... red/dark purpley-red? neon lime green? neon yellow./gold?.
anyway..
i love an empty canvas.. i love to create.. i love mixed-media opportunities. and i'm going to writing soon about, and sharing pictures, because, our recent wedding..
it became a wonderful and inspired opportunity for me to create, quite specifically, on traditional, 'real' painters canvases.. but i also used other objects as an empty canvas.. i got to do a lot of creating.. and every minute of it was joyful and fun..
i love my husband; my sexy... my creative collaborator and best friend; and i loved our wedding.. preparing for it; creating for it.. being in it
being surrounded & supported by family & friends we love...
upcoming posts for sure!
hallelujah! selah! amen!
