All 3 of his daughters DID GET MARRIED -fun story, remembered by (me!) sandra, -oldest sister

true, that prior to each wedding, my dad..  that is; our dad,

he was in the hospital for one reason or another.

i'd like to take you with me and robert, inside my dad's hospital room;

he had experienced a brief bout of confusion, infection, instability from low blood pressure and low oxygen

i must start by giving you the tone, voice, mannerisms of the nurse in his room:

her experience was obviously with a high number of patients with dementia; she seemed trained to be polite, to just go along with..  while not really believing,   -just being a good sport and kind listener.

as an adult might just go along with the tall tales of a very young child

****

nurse:   this is your oldest daughter..

my dad:    yes..   she just got married...

nurse:   [glances at me, looks at my dad, tender-heartedly]   oh, that's sure special isn't it.  [skeptical smile]

and when i agreed..   it was as if she thought, i was just going along with it too..

my dad:   and i have another daughter..    she's getting married too

nurse:  you have Two daughters...     getting married...    that's very nice Dan..

my dad:   and my youngest daughter..    looks like she'll be getting married..

nurse:  oh! you have THREE daughters all getting married...

*****

and each time the nurse would look at me, with her sweet skeptical smile, and i validated what my dad was sharing was true..

i could tell, she didn't believe a word of it..   thought it was all, delusion.

*****

robert and i have had so much fun re-telling that experience..    and everyone understands immediately the nurse being over-immersed with dementia training

and understands how,    -what are the chances you are in the hospital,  82 years old, and out of the hospital,  the father of the bride, three years in a row...

****

so many answered prayers..   "Thank You!" Jesus..   hallelujah & amen.
