ATTENTION is to HUMANS as the SUN is to PLANTS. -insists (me!) Sandra, tvgp
I've written about it before, but revisiting the topic because I've been inspired to write a poem about a woman in love with an Introvert..
In my very limited research.. I see that introvert is defined as someone 'concerned only with their own thoughts and feelings'
I could not disagree more.
And shy defined as, 'someone who lacks confidence'
I could not disagree more.
I view introversion and shyness quite differently than the current culture..
I believe it has little to do with confidence and/or self absorption
And everything to do with... The amount of human attention which is required to thrive.
That is how the sun is to plants.. Some plants thrive in direct sunlight, some thrive in indirect sunlight, some thrive in the shade.
Same is true with humans.. Some thrive when they receive a lot of direct attention, some thrive with indirect attention, and others require very little to no attention; and thrive.
If a plant needs sun and you stick it in the shade...
If a plant needs shade and you give it too much sun...
And because I believe this is true.. It seems as silly to me for someone to judge a shy or introverted person as.. Lacking confidence
As it would if you were judging a plant based on its requirement for sun or shade...
And now I'm off to write a poem...
